In 1998, AuBroncee began what would become a lifelong commitment to public service when he joined the Office of the Public Defender in the Eighth Judicial Circuit. For more than 27 years, he has represented people from every walk of life as they navigated some of the most challenging moments imaginable. He has tried more than 100 jury trials, handled cases ranging from minor offenses to first-degree murder, supervised attorneys, trained young lawyers, and served as Felony Division Chief. His work has always been guided by a simple belief: every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and given fair access to justice.

Outside the courtroom, AuBroncee served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, teaching the academic component of the Criminal Clinic and mentoring third-year law students as they entered the real world of practice. For many young attorneys, he became both a model and a mentor.

His dedication to service extends deeply into the community. Over the years, AuBroncee has supported local organizations and led numerous civic initiatives. His roles include President of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Florida Board of Directors, Chairman of the Gainesville/Alachua Cultural Affairs Board, Commissioner on the Alachua County Charter Review Commission, Trustee at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Cubmaster for Pack 454, and Committee Member for Boy Scout Troop 125. He has also served in leadership positions within the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (local chapter), and the Josiah T. Walls Bar Association.

A committed family man, AuBroncee has been married to his wife, Telisha, for 27 years, and they are the proud parents of three sons Jared, Jason, and Elijah. Their family reflects the same values that guide his life’s work: service, purpose, compassion, and community.

At every stage as a son, student, husband, father, lawyer, teacher, mentor, and community leader AuBroncee Martin has been shaped by one guiding belief: service is not an act; it is a calling. For more than two decades, he has answered that call by standing with the people of Alachua County, listening to their stories, and working to ensure justice is fair, accessible, and grounded in dignity for all.

AUBRONCEE

AuBroncee S. Martin was born in St. Augustine, Florida, but his story truly begins in Sanford, where he was raised by his mother, Mary, an elementary school teacher who spent more than 30 years shaping young minds. His grandmother, also named Mary, was a retired farmworker who worked the seasonal fields, harvesting fruits and vegetables to support her family. From her, he learned the power of perseverance and the dignity of hard work. As the oldest of three children, AuBroncee learned early the values of responsibility, humility, and service.

Those values followed him to Florida A&M University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in history and marched proudly with the world-renowned Marching 100. At FAMU, he built friendships and leadership skills that continue to guide him today.

After graduating, AuBroncee pursued his law degree at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, immersing himself in advocacy, student leadership, and the discipline of the law. He served on the Law College Council, competed on the Jessup Moot Court Team, and deepened his understanding of justice and fairness principles that would shape his career.
